Congratulations to Heather Zapatka, RCH Central Sterilization Technician, for receiving our Fourth Quarter Pillar of Excellence Award!

This quarterly award recognizes employees who display positive behaviors and characteristics as defined in our Dare to Soar standards, values and RCH mission. Employees receiving this award demonstrate these behaviors and characteristics on a consistent basis. Selection for this award recognizes these employees for their outstanding commitment and demonstration of concern, respect, and professionalism.

The Pillar of Excellence Award is a step above the typical ’employee of the month’ model of recognition. In order to receive this award, employees are nominated by a co-worker that fills out a nomination form that must fully illustrate how the employee demonstrates EXCELLENCE IN EACH CATEGORY of our Dare to Soar values. The application that meets the standards of the application as well as the award is chosen by our Employer of Choice team.

See below for Heather’s nomination.

The Fourth Quarter Pillar Award is given to recognize Heather Zapatka who displays positive Dare to Soar behaviors and characteristics from our standards, values, and RCH mission. Heather is a shining example of a dedicated employee. Not only is Heather one of the first people to arrive in the morning and on many days the last one to leave, but she also has offered to come back after hours to receive and process trays that are needed for an upcoming case. Heather always demonstrates a positive, can-do attitude in the midst of setbacks.

One co-worker said of her, “You do not realize all the work she does until something happens. She makes it seem seamless.” Heather is not a person who seeks the spotlight. She works hard, is very dependable and has a great sense of humor which is a must in surgery.

We are so grateful to have her on the RCH team.
