RCH Prediabetes Program Starts March 4th
Rochelle Community Hospital will be hosting a free Prediabetes Program for twelve weeks beginning Wednesday, March 4 through Wednesday, May 20, 2020 from 5:30-7:00 p.m. in the RCH Health & Wellness Center Conference Room. This twelve week class is adapted from the CDC’s National Diabetes Prevention Program which offers a practical approach to those who have been diagnosed as “prediabetic”. Prediabetes is when your blood sugar level is higher than it should be but not high enough for your doctor to diagnose diabetes. Classes will offer education on numerous topics including diet, exercise, cooking, lifestyle, in a small group setting.
Classes are presented by certified diabetes educators, registered dietitians and/or a registered nurse. In addition, participants receive free A1C testing at the beginning and ending of the program; free gym membership at the RCH HealthWorks Fitness Center for the duration of the course; free pedometer to track activity and take home resource materials.
A Rochelle diabetes educator offers guidance and coaching on what prediabetes means, how it can be managed and how each individual can maintain good health.
There is no cost to attend but a physician referral is required to participate in the program. To register or for more information, please call 815-562-2181, ext. 3002.
