What the Heck is Blepharoplasty?
Another name for blepharoplasty is “eyelid surgery.”
It’s a surgical solution to a common problem. Over time, eyelids may develop excess skin and fat deposits that can actually impede vision. Blepharoplasty removes this excess tissue, removes wrinkles and tightens droopy lids.
Will my insurance cover blepharoplasty?
Blepharoplasty is typically covered by insurance when done to improve vision that is blocked by a drooping upper lid. However, if the surgery is chosen for cosmetic reasons, it will not be covered.
How long does it take to recover from blepharoplasty?
The surgery is normally an outpatient procedure. You can expect some bruising and swelling following the procedure but most people are back to normal activities within a week to 10 days.
Ophthalmologist Dr. Jason Friedrichs performs blepharoplasty and other eye procedures at Rochelle Community Hospital.
