Dermatology focuses on the diagnosis, prevention and treatment of diseases affecting not just the skin but also the hair, nails and mucous membranes. While skin cancer prevention through skin/mole evaluation and treatment are a key part of dermatology services, some other reasons to see a dermatology professional include acne, psoriasis, eczema, dermatitis/rash, rosacea, infections of the skin, as well as skin growths such as warts, age spots, sun spots, cysts and skin tags.
