Five Star Rating Achieved by RCH
ROCHELLE, IL—December 15, 2015—In April of this year, the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) began applying a star rating to hospitals based on their patient satisfaction and quality of care scores. For the second time, Rochelle Community Hospital has been recognized with a five-star rating; most recently as one of 12 five-star rated hospitals in Illinois and one of 309 nationally in the latest ranking released by CMS in October.
The ratings are based on data from the Hospital Consumer Assessment of Healthcare Providers and Systems Survey (HCAHPS) and are included on the Hospital Compare site. Survey scores make it easier for consumers to choose a hospital and understand the quality of care they deliver. The rating system builds on a larger effort to offer a healthcare system that delivers better care, spends healthcare dollars more efficiently and results in healthier people.
These scores measure patients’ perspectives of their hospital care and include topics such as:
• How well nurses and doctors communicate with patients
• How responsive hospital staff are to patient needs
• How clean and quiet hospital environments are
• How well patients are prepared for post-hospital settings
The better the scores, the higher the star rating, with the lowest rating at one star and the highest at five. For more information, check www.HCAHPSonline.org.
Rochelle Community Hospital encourages patients to complete surveys they receive in the mail following services provided. These surveys are sent at random every month and the results are provided to RCH by a third party, Press Ganey. Providing a name and phone number on the survey is encouraged if you wish to be contacted regarding your patient experience. As always, we are interested in hearing from our patients and encourage you to contact us with any of your questions or concerns, or to share insights from your recent patient interactions.
