RCH Foundation and Auxiliary Funds Provide New Bariatric Bed

Rochelle Community Hospital now owns a Stryker Bari10A bariatric bed thanks to funds provided from the hospital’s Foundation and Auxiliary.

The inflatable mattress offers several adjustments for patient comfort and has a wound care surface for pressure ulcer prevention with a foam mattress underneath.

“The flexibility and comfort this new bed provides will limit the number of transfers for bariatric patients who might be admitted from the emergency department.  This is a great addition to the medical/surgical floor,” stated Crystal Vondergathen, RCH Manager of Inpatient Services.

This new bed has a weight limit of 1,000 pounds and a built-in scale.  Both sides retract providing the ability to fit through any doorway of the hospital.  The length of the bed can also be extended.
