Rochelle Community Hospital Installs the Aquilion Prime CT
ROCHELLE, IL, April 12, 2012 – In its mission to continue to offer the most advanced technology available, Rochelle Community Hospital is pleased to announce the addition of a new state-of-the-art Aquilion™ Prime Computed Tomography (CT) scanner to its Diagnostic Imaging department. The new Toshiba 160 slice scanner is only the second of its kind currently available in the United States. The first is located in Las Vegas, Nevada.
While the previous scanner provided 64 slices per rotation, the Aquilion™ Prime CT is capable of reconstructing 160 unique slices with every rotation of the gantry (opening) while delivering the highest quality 3-D-rendered images of soft tissues with the lowest dose of radiation. The combination of the 0.35 second gantry rotation speed and the state-of-the-art reconstruction technology allows many examinations to be performed and reconstructed in seconds. These elements will enable physicians to make faster and more accurate diagnoses.
The Aquilion Prime also includes patient-friendly features to make the exam experience more comfortable for patients. For example, the system also features a 78 cm aperture gantry, the largest currently available in a high-end CT system. The eVolution couch can now hold up to 660 pounds and cover 2000mm to accommodate larger patients such as bariatric studies. Also, the iStation offers multilingual prompts and education features to enhance patient compliance during scanning.
"One of our goals is to provide our patients with the latest technology," said Mark J. Batty, Rochelle Community Hospital Chief Executive Officer "The new Aquilion™ Prime CT is a great investment in caring for our community."
Actual patient exams began on Monday, April 2nd and additional application training continues this week.
