RCH Teaches Byron High School Students About Mental Health and Suicide Awareness
Students at Byron High School learned about breaking down the stigma of mental illness issues and suicide awareness in three sessions offered by Rochelle Community Hospital last week.
“I really enjoyed working with the students. They sent questions before the class and it really helped stimulate some great conversation,” said Angela Villarreal, R.N., the instructor and Manager of Education and Organizational Development at RCH.
Discussion emphasized coping strategies and ways to deal with anxiety and depression, suicide awareness and resources for seeking help. How to identify others who need help and social media were also covered.
