Video Features RCH to Tell the 'Story of Rural'

ROCHELLE, IL--- To best “tell the story” of critical access hospitals in Illinois, the Illinois Critical Access Hospital Network (ICAHN) and Rochelle Community Hospital recently created a compelling promotional video and they are also encourage other small and rural hospitals to do the same.

“With increased numbers of small and rural hospitals closing, in addition to loss of funding, our CEOs deemed educating our communities, counties and policymakers as their number one goal,” said Pat Schou, ICAHN Executive Director. “One of the best ways to do that was the creation of a video. Our sincerest thanks to Mark Batty, RCH Chief Executive Officer, for his efforts in making that happen.”

This project dovetailed from an Illinois critical access hospital survey, conducted by ICAHN in December and January, which identified the need to promote the value of the rural healthcare system and the importance of keeping that system intact. Batty, who serves as chairman of ICAHN’s Issues Committee, offered RCH to set the scene for filming.

“We had great participation from patients and community members in this video project,” said Batty.  “It sends a message about how important Rochelle Community Hospital is to the success of our community.”

“This video is the first in a series to capture the relevance of rural health, and we feel we have created an example to expand upon,” said Schou. “So far, we’ve had positive feedback from the policymakers and hospital community. They see we have infrastructure and that we are good stewards of money, providing a vital service for our communities and their people.”
