Emergency Department at RCH Recipient of Donation
ROCHELLE, IL--August 13, 2013--Rochelle Community Hospital was the recipient of a neonatal resuscitator/wamer donated by OSF Saint Anthony Medical Center Foundation. The donation was delivered this afternoon for use in Rochelle Community Hospital’s Emergency Department.
David Schertz, CEO of OSF HealthCare Northern Region, presented the donation to Rochelle Community Hospital CEO Mark Batty, as well as other members of the RCH administration, this afternoon.
The neonatal resuscitator/warmer meets the latest Neonatal Resuscitation Provider (NRP) standards and will be used after a baby’s delivery to maintain the temperature of the newborn and provide any resuscitative efforts that might be needed at delivery. It also includes suction to help clean airways and a scale to weigh newborns for weight-based medications.
“While we do not deliver babies at Rochelle Community Hospital, on the rare occasion that we have an imminent delivery, this equipment will help us provide excellent care to the newborn until a Neonatal Intensive Care team can arrive and transport the baby to a higher level of care,” stated Jeri Anders, RCH Manager of Emergency Services.
