8th Annual Hospital Hustle 5K Raises Over $9,600

The Rochelle Community Hospital Foundation’s 5K Walk/Run, the “Hospital Hustle”, was held at Rochelle Township High School on Saturday morning, June 7 with 313 registered participants.

     Overall winners were Chris Irk, age 34, of Glenview with a time of 17:42 and Nikki Newton, age 23, of Rochelle with a time of 21:17.  An awards ceremony was held immediately following the race.

    A new category for disabled participants was added this year.  Local veteran, Brian Sawlsville, received top honors in this category and all veterans in attendance were recognized.

     This year’s event boasted twelve teams including: Abes, Anytime Fitness, First National Bank, Holcomb State Bank, Hub Lounge, Maplehurst Farms, Maze Runners, Midwest Orthopaedic Institute, Rochelle Child Care Center, Sawicki Motors, The Pension Specialists, Ltd., and Wills Chiropractic.  The Fastest Team was awarded to Sawicki Motors. 

     The $100 Visa gift card winner was Luci Johnson.

     Funds raised totaled over $9,600 and will go towards the purchase of six Philips HeartStart Defibrillators.
