Hours of Operation for Outpatient Testing

Monday - Friday, 5:30 a.m. - 10:00 p.m.

Saturday, 7:00 a.m. - 2:30 p.m. 

Sunday, 7:00 a.m. - 10:00 a.m.

Patients are seen on a first-come first-serve basis, whenever possible.

After-hour appointments may be made if it is impossible to come during the regularly scheduled hours listed above.  Appointments require 24-hour notice and are subject to delay if lab personnel are attending to emergency or acutely ill patients.

Laboratory Staff

The Manager of the Laboratory is a Registered Medical Technologist. The Technical Staff is comprised of Registered Medical Laboratory Technicians and Medical Technologists. Phlebotomists are Nationally Certified or trained on site.

The RCH Laboratory provides routine and STAT testing for basic laboratory procedures for all age groups of patients. A daily courier service to SwedishAmerican Hospital in Rockford makes referred Lab testing and Pathology specimen testing possible. In the event a referred test is ordered STAT, it is immediately transported to the reference lab by our maintenance department.

A Pathologist from Northern Illinois Pathology makes a monthly or as needed visit to provide professional consultation. Frozen sections can be performed Monday through Friday with 24-hour notice.

EKGs are read with an immediate computer readout. Over-reads on EKGs are performed by Dr. Pitamber Persaud, Rockford Cardiology, Midwest Cardiology or IL Pediatric Cardiology group.
